Prof. Brigitte L. Kieffer is Professor at the University of Strasbourg, France, and Professor of Psychiatry at McGill University, Montréal Canada. She also is Director of the Douglas Research Center affiliated to McGill since january 2014. Brigitte L. Kieffer has pioneered together with Claire Gaveriaux-Ruff the field of opioid receptors molecular biology and genetics. She has received numerous prestigious awards, including the 2014 L’Oreal-Unesco Award for Women and Science. She became an EMBO Member in 2009, and a member of the French Academy of Sciences in 2013. She has international collaborations for projects implicating opioid receptors and addiction. Brigitte L. Kieffer has published more than 150 research articles and reviews.
In GLORIA, she is involved in defining the role of opioid receptors on microglia, astrocytes and T-lymphocytes in relevant pain models.
