Vladana Vukojevic

Vladana Vukojevic, Associate Professor of Biochemistry, applies and further develops advanced fluorescence microscopy imaging and fluorescence correlation spectroscopy techniques for quantitative studies of molecular interactions in live cells. The group was first to investigate the functional role of opioid receptor organization in the plasma membrane of living cells using methods with single-molecule sensitivity, investigated the effects of specific and non-specific ligands on opioid receptor cellular dynamics and association with lipid micro-domains and discovered the cell-penetrating properties of dynorphin peptides. She has authored 50 scientific articles.

In GLORIA, Prof. Vukojevic will focus on the characterization of opioid, TLR4 and 5-HT1a receptors lateral organization in the plasma membrane, their association in homo- and heteromeric complexes and interactions with selected ligands.
