Dr. Vânia Moreira holds a PhD degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the University of Coimbra, Portugal, since 2008. She is the author or co-author of 25 peer-reviewed publications in the fields of organic and medicinal chemistry. Her previous work involved development of novel steroidal inhibitors of CYP17 for prostate cancer treatment, in collaboration with the University of Maryland, School of Medicine, USA, where she worked during the year of 2006. Later, she did postdoctoral work with pentacyclic triterpenes as proteasome inhibitors for the treatment of multiple myeloma, and was a visiting researcher at the University of Ferrara, Italy, in 2011. She is currently a post-doctoral researcher at the Division of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology of the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Helsinki.
In GLORIA, she participates in the design and synthesis of new compounds for managing chronic pain.
