Dr. Li Tian received her medical training from College of Medicine, Peking University, China (1987–1993). She was awarded her PhD degree in Biochemistry from the University of Helsinki, studing neuro-immune interaction mediated by cell adhesion molecules (1995–2001). She then worked in a biotechnology company, Medicel Ltd, in Finland as a senior scientist (2002–2004). Later, she did her postdoctoral work in the Department of Biochemistry (2005–2007) and in the Neuroscience Center (2008–2011) of the University of Helsinki. In 2011, she received the 5-year Research Fellow position awarded by the Academy of Finland and is currently working as a group leader in the Neuroscience Center. Her current research focuses on neuro-immune modulation of the central and peripheral immunity and its role in immune-related diseases. She is the supervisor of two graduate school-sponsored PhD students and the cosupervisor of two other PhD students. Dr. Li Tian has authored or co-authored 16 peer-reviewed publications. She has expertise in neuroimmunolgy and functional characterization of innate and adaptive immune cells in vitro and in vivo.
In GLORIA, Dr. Li Tian’s niche is the quantification of microglial and other immune cell activation.
